An Adaptive Short-Term Frequency Stabilization Method for Doubly Fed Induction Generators Considering Power Margins

摘要:Long time operation of a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) at its power limit is likely to cause mechanical fatigue problems, especially in the high wind speed condition. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new short-term frequency stabilization method for DFIGs based on the proposed enhanced dynamic droop control. The dynamic droop gain of the proposed method is weighted by the power margin so that the total time of working at the power limit of the DFIG is limited. The proposed method is applied to a three-bus model system in EMTP-RV. The simulation result confirms the proposed method's capability to reduce mechanical fatigues of DFIGs while having good frequency stabilization performances in terms of steady state frequency and secondary frequency drop.
